On occasion I wish that Freewebs came with an operating manuel. I'm not promising I'd use it, but it might make entries a whole lot easier. There'd be a better chance anyway. But Rather than you have to upload ever single puppy photo I've taken, just to see the newest ones - I will start a new page here so you can go directly to the latest. This page will most likely only carry the latest for this week... but we'll cross that bridge when the time comes.
So here are photos taken in the wee hours of May 7th - 8th. Now that they are eager for human companionship it is HARDER to get them to sit still. The want to rush the camera and give puppy kisses! Oh such a hard life to have.
Puppy descriptions are listed above the photo. I've tried to stick with the original numbering system for consistancy, even it it really has no relevance other than to label them. We have not named them at this point, preferring to allow new owners to tell us what to call them. Speaking of which, would you like to be a new owner? Contact us - these guys need to have a family of their own!
Puppy #1Male, Full Tail. Now wears a black collar.
Puppy #2 Female, Full Tail. Now wears a green collar with leaves.

Puppy #3 Male, NBT. Wearing a red collar.

Puppy #4 Female with longer bob tail. Wearing a green collar with leaves.

Puppy #5 Male with longer bob tail. Wearing a red plaid collar.

Puppy #6 Male, full tail. Wearing a green collar.

Puppy #7 Male, with longer bobtail. Wearing no collar, he's naked!

Puppy #8 Female, longer bobtail. Wearing a green collar with leaves.

It's been a trial getting these loaded up here today. But worth the effort!
My apologies, I thought that I would easily be putting up new photos weekly. I vastly underrated the amount of things that go on in the springtime. In the land sans puppies. It intrudes on my prime puppy time. And what puppy time I have tends to not have a camera handy. This week I decided to try for some more candid shots. It gives a different view, though I think I miss the specific puppy "straight into the camera" looks. The puppies had several visitors this past week, and I think they were delighted. Tonight they met some BOYS... and it was a huge hit. For all but the one currently going through an aloof stage. If I could get BOYS or heck, GIRLS to come on a regular basis I think the puppies would be soooo happy.
Years ago (OK, LOTS of years ago) when my son was small and a pre-reader (he's almost 22 now and is about 6'7") his favorite "read to me book" was Go Dog Go. Its packed in a box around here somewhere. I blame the 3,719 times I read that book on the fact that our collar colors have morphed into a form of a name. Instead of Green, we have Mr. Green, instead of Plaid, we have Mr. Plaid. And on the girls that all share the same collar - they have descriptors Ms. Tail, Ms. Shady and... I'll admit this is just weird. Katie. For some reason one puppy has a name. A real name. I don't know if that means she's the puppy that will stay here (she certainly is working on that!), or if it just means thats her name no matter where she lives. This explaination is to let you know that from now on I'll just describe them with their original number and their color name.
So today I went out with a friend to play with PUPPIES! And took along the camera. We got some interesting shots (and lots that weren't so much). Like these...
I had some apparently very tastey sheep dropping remains on my shoes. They were quite a hit. Oh, along with me in general as Mr. Red is making clear as he climbs toward the camera. But two puppies were not enough to clean those shoes... oh no!
This was a concerted group effort that lasted much of the time I was trying to photograph. Note to self, wear less tastey shoes.
This is Puppy #1, now known as Mr. Black (this week he's Mr. Naked as he's waiting for a replacement collar)

He's a mover, a licker, a wagger... much easier to catch once asleep.
Puppy #2, who is now Ms. Tail (she's our Aloof Princess today)

Somehow her photo came out small. She's a fine sized girl, and once encouraged she happily joined the party.
Puppy #3 is now Mr. Red. He's moving out of his aloof, independent phase.

Mom Iden gave the pups a lesson on digging today. Some got into it more than others, you'll see the evidence on a few pups.
Pup #4 is Ms. Shady (named for her Shaded Sable, not her ethics)

Isn't it sad that the only thing they have to teeth on are rocks. A true shame....
Pup #5 is Mr. Plaid, he's all cuddles.

And sweetness. He's a sensitive soul. But then, most of them are.
Pup #6 is Mr. Green. He's our meeter and greeter. A permanent smile and a tail that never stops moving.

I often tell Mr. Green tha tI suspect that he's really a Golden Retriever in a ES suit. I think he needs a family with children, perhaps alot of children.
Pup #7 is now Mr. Blue (last time he was Mr. Naked, but his collar has been replaced to its original color).

He's a sensitive guy, and hard to catch in a better shot it turned out. He's also brighter than serves his own good. He figured out how to use the chair we had placed for Iden to come and go from their pen. So now his Mom has to wait to be let in and out... I think he'll be ready for his SAT's in a month or two.
And last, but certainly not least, Pup #8 is Katie.

No eye contact with the camera. She feels it would defeat her purpose - which is to stay here. Understood.
And a final photo of the crowd after a whole lot of lovin.
It wears a little body out.
In one of those, OH NO WE FORGOT PUPPY PHOTOS moments we hauled in the pups one by one last night to take their pictures. The group as a whole was pensive, to say the least. I'm not sure what they thought we were going to do to them inside the house, but they all look as if they're waiting for us to serve them raw on a cracker. So my apologies - these are not the puppies we live with day in, day out. Those puppies smile, and wiggle and bring happiness to the world. They are not to be served raw on a cracker. But none the less, here are some updated photos. Notice that a few are sporting some mud and dampness (read the blog about our RAIN).
OK, in normal Webs form, it doesn't seem to want to upload the photos... stand by while I warm up another computer and see if that makes a difference. Webs keeps saying that its going to stop talking to my computer because I use an outdated (to them) operating system, or rather they want me to have a more exciting version of Internet Explorer... I don't know if that is what keeps happening with puppy photos or not.
The photo ABOVE this caption is Black (Original Pup #1) who is in a huge hurry to leave. And yes, the other computer seems to make all the difference!!!
This is "Tail" which is what we call the one female with (you can guess this can't you?!) the full tail. She is original puppy #2. In case you wondered, if you play in mud, you do in fact get dirty!
This is Red, or Original Pup #3. Instead of Red Eye, which might have been appropriate - he's giving us some Blue Eye.
Here is Shady, or Original Pup #4. She's getting sweeter by the day.
This sweet face belongs to Plaid, or Original Pup #5. He's built like a tank, and very striking with his long white stockings.
This would be Green, with some of his namesake collar showing. He is Original Pup #6. Looks a bit worried I think. No, puppies are not eatable... promise.
Another worried look from Blue, or Original Pup #7. He's already looking a bit lankier than the rest I think he's colored like his Mom, but going to be built like his Dad.
And last, but not least....
The Katie girl. Original Pup #8. She stays here to keep us all in line. And she has the Moxie to do it too!
One last photo of the group begging for attention...
Other than some major movement - doesn't this have some of that Puppy in the Window look?
